ABSTRACT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Back\u00adground:<\/strong> Various types of robots have alre\u00adady been suc\u00adcess\u00adfully used in medi\u00adcal care, and the use of new tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies is also play\u00ading an increa\u00adsing role in the area of sexua\u00adlity. Sex robots are mar\u00adke\u00adted as advan\u00adced sex toys and sex dolls with arti\u00adfi\u00adcial intel\u00adli\u00adgence. Only a few con\u00adside\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons about the the\u00adra\u00adpeutic use of sex robots in sexual the\u00adrapy are deba\u00adted in expert dis\u00adcus\u00adsions.<\/p>\n

Objec\u00adtive:<\/strong> The aim of this study was to con\u00adduct a first explo\u00adra\u00adtory sur\u00advey on the atti\u00adtu\u00addes of sex the\u00adra\u00adpists and phy\u00adsi\u00adci\u00adans toward the the\u00adra\u00adpeutic bene\u00adfits of sex robots.<\/p>\n

Methods:<\/strong> This study com\u00adpri\u00adsed a quan\u00adti\u00adta\u00adtive online sur\u00advey and a qua\u00adli\u00adta\u00adtive inter\u00adview study. A self-constructed ques\u00adti\u00adon\u00adnaire was used to sur\u00advey the gene\u00adral atti\u00adtu\u00addes of sex the\u00adra\u00adpists and phy\u00adsi\u00adci\u00adans regar\u00adding the bene\u00adfits of sex robots in the\u00adrapy. The qua\u00adli\u00adta\u00adtive study was desi\u00adgned to gain in-depth insight into the par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants\u2019 beliefs and atti\u00adtu\u00addes. The\u00adre\u00adfore, semi\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtu\u00adred inter\u00adviews were con\u00adduc\u00adted. The quan\u00adti\u00adta\u00adtive data were eva\u00adlua\u00adted by sta\u00adti\u00ads\u00adti\u00adcal ana\u00adly\u00adsis, and the inter\u00adviews were tran\u00adscri\u00adbed and ana\u00adly\u00adzed by using a groun\u00added theory approach.<\/p>\n

Results:<\/strong> A total of 72 sex the\u00adra\u00adpists and phy\u00adsi\u00adci\u00adans com\u00adple\u00adted our self-constructed ques\u00adti\u00adon\u00adnaire (res\u00adponse rate 15%, 72\/480). Only a few respond\u00adents (11%, 8\/72) said that the use of sex robots was not con\u00adceiva\u00adble for them, and almost half of all the\u00adra\u00adpists and phy\u00adsi\u00adci\u00adans could ima\u00adgine recom\u00admen\u00adding sex robots in the\u00adrapy (45%, 33\/72). The atti\u00adtude toward sex robots as a the\u00adra\u00adpeutic tool was very hete\u00adro\u00adge\u00adneous, with gen\u00adder (P=.006), age (P=.03), and occupa\u00adtio\u00adnal dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adces (P=.05); female the\u00adra\u00adpists, older the\u00adra\u00adpists, and psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgists (in con\u00adtrast to phy\u00adsi\u00adci\u00adans) were more cri\u00adti\u00adcal toward the the\u00adra\u00adpeutic use of sex robots. The ana\u00adly\u00adsis of the 5 inter\u00adviews iden\u00adti\u00adfied 3 high-level core the\u00admes that were repre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtive of the par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants\u2019 res\u00adpon\u00adses: (1) the import\u00adance of the per\u00adso\u00adnal defi\u00adni\u00adtion of sex robots for the assess\u00adment of their the\u00adra\u00adpeutic bene\u00adfits, (2) the\u00adra\u00adpeutic bene\u00adfits and dan\u00adgers of sex robots, and (3) con\u00adside\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons on the qua\u00adlity of human-robot sexua\u00adlity. Initial insights into the pos\u00adsi\u00adble the\u00adra\u00adpeutic use of sex robots in dif\u00adfe\u00adrent dis\u00ador\u00adders (eg, sexual dys\u00adfunc\u00adtion or pedo\u00adphi\u00adlia) and situa\u00adti\u00adons were gai\u00adned from the per\u00adspec\u00adtive of sex the\u00adra\u00adpists.<\/p>\n

Con\u00adclu\u00adsi\u00adons:<\/strong> The results of this study pro\u00advide a first over\u00adview of the poten\u00adtial the\u00adra\u00adpeutic use of sex robots. Moral, ethi\u00adcal, and treatment-related issues in this con\u00adtext are still unre\u00adsol\u00adved and need to be fur\u00adther rese\u00adar\u00adched. We sug\u00adgest inte\u00adgra\u00adting the topic into the trai\u00adning of sex the\u00adra\u00adpists to form opi\u00adni\u00adons bey\u00adond media images and to show the\u00adrapy pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties. Sci\u00aden\u00adtists enga\u00adged in sexual rese\u00adarch should be invol\u00adved in the deve\u00adlop\u00adment of sex robots to design robots with posi\u00adtive effects on sexual edu\u00adca\u00adtion, sexual the\u00adrapy, sexual coun\u00adse\u00adling, and sexual well-being for inte\u00adrested groups.<\/p>\n
