This inclu\u00addes nume\u00adrous facets of family rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips that have not escaped the digi\u00adtal revo\u00adlu\u00adtion of the last two deca\u00addes. From the very early sta\u00adges of initia\u00adting rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips to types of post-break-up beha\u00advi\u00adors, the Inter\u00adnet has the poten\u00adtial to play an influ\u00aden\u00adtial role in all areas of family and par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlarly couple rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips. This paper exami\u00adnes how ICTs (\u201cinfor\u00adma\u00adtion and com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion tech\u00adno\u00adlogy\u201d) can shape such rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips. The impact on the various sta\u00adges of rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips is sys\u00adte\u00adma\u00adti\u00adzed (rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhip deve\u00adlop\u00adment, couple and family for\u00adma\u00adtion, sepa\u00adra\u00adtion) with a spe\u00adcial focus on inter\u00adge\u00adne\u00adra\u00adtio\u00adnal oppor\u00adtu\u00adnities and con\u00adflicts asso\u00adcia\u00adted with modern media usage. Against the back\u00adground of psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal and media com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion theo\u00adries and psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adra\u00adpeutic approa\u00adches as well as empi\u00adri\u00adcal fin\u00addings the fol\u00adlo\u00adwing topics are con\u00adside\u00adred: 1. Initia\u00adtion of rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhips through ICTs (e.g. meet new part\u00adners through online dating); 2. Impact of digi\u00adtal media on rela\u00adti\u00adons\u00adhip deve\u00adlop\u00adment and exis\u00adting part\u00adnerships (e.g. new oppor\u00adtu\u00adnities and internet-related chal\u00adlen\u00adges that have to be faced by cou\u00adples) 3. Influ\u00adence of ICTs on sepa\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons (e.g. online media\u00adtion, get\u00adting divorced online). In sum\u00admary, the role of ICTs in new, exis\u00adting and sepa\u00adra\u00adted part\u00adnerships and fami\u00adlies is mul\u00adti\u00adfa\u00adce\u00adted.
