Cyber\u00adchon\u00addria refers to the pheno\u00adme\u00adnon of health anxiety because of online health infor\u00adma\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Objec\u00adtive:<\/strong> This study aimed to examine online health rese\u00adarch of indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals with and without sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria and their impact on health anxiety as well as beha\u00advior.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Methods:<\/strong> An online sur\u00advey was con\u00adduc\u00adted. Demo\u00adgra\u00adphic data, health-related inter\u00adnet use, and gene\u00adral health beha\u00advior were asses\u00adsed. The ill\u00adness atti\u00adtude scale was used to record sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Results:<\/strong> The final sam\u00adple con\u00adsis\u00adted of N=471 par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants. More than 40% (188\/471) of par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants showed at least some sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria. Par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants with sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria used the inter\u00adnet more fre\u00adquently for health-related pur\u00adpo\u00adses and also fre\u00adquen\u00adted more online ser\u00advices than indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals without sym\u00adptoms. Most online health ser\u00advices were rated as more relia\u00adble by indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals with sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria. Chan\u00adges to beha\u00advior such as doc\u00adtor hop\u00adping or orde\u00adring non\u00adpre\u00adscri\u00adbed medi\u00adcine online were con\u00adside\u00adred more likely by indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals with sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Con\u00adclu\u00adsi\u00adons:<\/strong> Results show that indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals with sym\u00adptoms of hypo\u00adchon\u00addria do not turn to online rese\u00adarch as a result of lacking alter\u00adna\u00adti\u00adves but rather con\u00adsult health ser\u00advices on- as well as off\u00adline.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Eichen\u00adberg, C., &amp; Schott, M.
