Serious games are increa\u00adsin\u00adgly being used wit\u00adhin health\u00adcare, but their intro\u00adduc\u00adtion into and app\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion in psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adra\u00adpeutic set\u00adtings as an e-mental health tre\u00adat\u00adment moda\u00adlity rai\u00adses ques\u00adti\u00adons for both pati\u00adents and the\u00adra\u00adpists. Cur\u00adrent rese\u00adarch demons\u00adtra\u00adtes the poten\u00adtial role and effec\u00adtiven\u00adess of serious games wit\u00adhin a psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adra\u00adpeutic con\u00adtext. Howe\u00adver, a limi\u00adted under\u00adstan\u00adding of pati\u00adents\u2019 and the\u00adra\u00adpists\u2019 exis\u00adting know\u00adledge and expe\u00adri\u00adence of serious games, as well as of their rea\u00addi\u00adness to uti\u00adlize and apply them for the tre\u00adat\u00adment of psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal con\u00addi\u00adti\u00adons, requi\u00adres fur\u00adther inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span class=\"caps\">MATERIALS<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">AND<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">METHODS<\/span>:<\/strong> Accep\u00adtance, expe\u00adri\u00adence, and requi\u00adre\u00adments for the uti\u00adliza\u00adt\u00adion of serious games in the\u00adra\u00adpeutic con\u00adtexts were asses\u00adsed through online sur\u00adveys with German-speaking pati\u00adents (n\u2009=\u2009260) and psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adra\u00adpists (n\u2009=\u2009234). Respond\u00adents\u2019 ans\u00adwers were ana\u00adly\u00adzed by a com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion of descrip\u00adtive and infe\u00adren\u00adtial sta\u00adti\u00ads\u00adtics by using&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">SPSS<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span class=\"caps\">RESULTS<\/span>:<\/strong> Cur\u00adrent know\u00adledge regar\u00adding serious games was very limi\u00adted, with only 10.4% of pati\u00adents and 11.5% of the\u00adra\u00adpists reporting exis\u00adting know\u00adledge. Howe\u00adver, a gene\u00adral open\u00adness toward the con\u00adcept was obser\u00adved: 88% of pati\u00adents and 90% of the\u00adra\u00adpists could envi\u00adsage a the\u00adra\u00adpeutic use. Pati\u00adents (rs\u2009=\u20090.169, p\u2009=\u20090.006) who self-rated their level of com\u00adpu\u00adter and video game exper\u00adtise as high were more likely to con\u00adsider use wit\u00adhin psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adrapy, com\u00adpa\u00adred with pati\u00adents who self-rated their exper\u00adtise as low. The\u00adra\u00adpists who cur\u00adrently play com\u00adpu\u00adter and video games per\u00adceive fewer dis\u00adad\u00advan\u00adta\u00adges of serious game app\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion in a psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adra\u00adpeutic con\u00adtext (p\u2009=\u20090.097). Con\u00adside\u00adra\u00adtion of serious game use was dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adtia\u00adted by the the\u00adra\u00adpeutic approach (p\u2009=\u20090.003), spe\u00adci\u00adfic men\u00adtal dis\u00ador\u00adders (hig\u00adhest rated rele\u00advant cases: anxiety dis\u00ador\u00adders, affec\u00adtive dis\u00ador\u00adders, dis\u00ador\u00adders regar\u00adding impulse con\u00adtrol, and adjust\u00adment dis\u00ador\u00adders), and pati\u00adent age (i.e., use with young adults was deemed the most appro\u00adpriate by 91.8% of the\u00adra\u00adpists).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span class=\"caps\">CONCLUSION<\/span>:<\/strong> The app\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion of serious games is con\u00adceiva\u00adble for pati\u00adents and the\u00adra\u00adpists, espe\u00adcially as a com\u00adple\u00admen\u00adtary ele\u00adment to tra\u00addi\u00adtio\u00adnal face-to-face psy\u00adcho\u00adthe\u00adrapy. Accep\u00adtance is stron\u00adgly rela\u00adted to the\u00adra\u00adpeutic con\u00adtext.
