ABSTRACT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Background<\/h3>\n

The first wave of the COVID-19-pandemic hit dif\u00adfe\u00adrent coun\u00adtries with vary\u00ading degrees of seve\u00adrity, so that dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adces in the type and level of emer\u00adgency mea\u00adsu\u00adres were also necessary. It can be assu\u00admed that the psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal bur\u00adden was hig\u00adher in coun\u00adtries sub\u00adjec\u00adted to a more severe course of the pan\u00adde\u00admic (Italy) than in coun\u00adtries sub\u00adjec\u00adted to a less severe one (Ger\u00admany, Aus\u00adtria).<\/p>\n

Objective<\/h3>\n

To inves\u00adti\u00adgate and con\u00adtrast the well\u00adbeing of the popu\u00adla\u00adtion in Italy, Aus\u00adtria, and Ger\u00admany in the early phase of the first lock\u00addown.<\/p>\n

Method<\/h3>\n

Online sur\u00advey on N<\/i>\u2009=\u20094289 indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adals. The ques\u00adti\u00adon\u00adnaire com\u00adpri\u00adsed a self-administered sec\u00adtion, explo\u00adring the dimen\u00adsi\u00adons: per\u00adcei\u00adved seve\u00adrity of COVID-19<\/span>, per\u00adcei\u00adved risk of disease, con\u00adcerns rela\u00adted to COVID-19<\/span>, emer\u00adgency mea\u00adsure accep\u00adtance and emo\u00adtio\u00adnal dis\u00adt\u00adress due to emer\u00adgency mea\u00adsu\u00adres; and stan\u00addar\u00addi\u00adzed sca\u00adles to record emo\u00adtio\u00adnal state and coping: Stress-Coping-Style Ques\u00adti\u00adon\u00adnaire, Posi\u00adtive and Nega\u00adtive Affect Sche\u00addule, State-Trait-Anxiety-Inventory.<\/p>\n

Results<\/h3>\n

The three coun\u00adtries dis\u00adplayed signi\u00adfi\u00adcant dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adces in all inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adted dimen\u00adsi\u00adons (p<\/i>\u2009<\u2009.001). Ita\u00adlian par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants asses\u00adsed the COVID-19<\/span> virus as much more dan\u00adge\u00adrous (p<\/i> <\u2009.001), but des\u00adpite the pre\u00adva\u00adlence of the virus, the sub\u00adjec\u00adtive risk of disease was per\u00adcei\u00adved to be lower in Italy (p<\/i> <\u2009.001). This could be a posi\u00adtive effect of the restric\u00adtive cur\u00adfews set by the govern\u00adment in Italy. The emer\u00adgency mea\u00adsu\u00adres were gene\u00adrally per\u00adcei\u00adved to be very effec\u00adtive in all three coun\u00adtries, but due to the dura\u00adtion and the seve\u00adrity of the mea\u00adsu\u00adres, the fear and stress-reaction were the stron\u00adgest among Ita\u00adlian par\u00adti\u00adci\u00adpants (p<\/i>\u2009<\u2009.001).<\/p>\n

Conclusion<\/h3>\n

The stric\u00adter mea\u00adsu\u00adres in Italy preven\u00adted an app\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtion of many posi\u00adtive stress pro\u00adces\u00adsing stra\u00adte\u00adgies, which, in turn, fos\u00adte\u00adred the per\u00adpe\u00adtua\u00adtion of stres\u00adses and fear.<\/p>\n
